Since, I've continued to feel blocked in my writing, even my journaling! I decided to do a visualization that is definitely helping. I thought I would share it in case anyone else is feeling blocked. I would love to hear about the results if anyone tries it.
I start my visualizations by relaxing deeply, and imagining myself protected from any negativity by an envelope of white light around my body.(I can explain this in more detail if anyone is interested).
Then when I was relaxed I asked myself "What is blocking my creativity?" Since I already felt it was from early adulthood and younger I went there immediately (otherwise I would have started from my current age and gone backwards from there), the first image was when my first son had just been born and I was scared to death of being a mom( I adored him and I was afraid I would hurt him). I visualized my inner *wise woman* reassuring me as a young woman, and then taking me (and my son) to a safe beautiful peaceful place. This is just an example, without all the details.
Then I continued on to another memory, repeating the pattern until I got to a very traumatic event that occured when I was about twelve. Each time I found a block, I allowed my *inner wise woman* to heal it in whatever way felt appropriate. It was very powerful, and I gained some great insights. I'm going to continue to work on it today. I think my worst blocks occured when I was a pre-adolescent.
Has anyone done anything similar to this? I would love to hear about it. I think there is a similar exercise in The Artist's Way. I'll dig it out later and post about it.

Re: Visualization Exercise--clearing blocks
Wed, March 8, 2006 - 9:42 AMI just take the Weekly Walk when I am feeling drastically blocked. The Tree of Life visualization also helps me a lot (just imagine roots going down to the Earth below your feet and branches reaching for the heart of the universe from your shoulders and head. Then be between the worlds, enjoying the feeling).
